Chapter Spotlight: Richmond Hill High School: Saving Lives through Blood Drives

Though blood drives at our school used to originally be hosted by another club, Animal Awareness Club, this year RHHS HOSA had the pleasure of taking the helm. Working together with the American Red Cross, HOSA held its first Blood Drive on November 3, 2022, which involved the culmination of members’ time and practice. Several HOSA members volunteered to participate in this amazing opportunity: from greeting people and signing them in, to handing them snacks, to donating blood!

HOSA is all about giving back to the community and what better way to do that than donating and collecting blood to help out the hospitals with a low supply of blood. The drive was fortunate enough to see several participants: people of all blood types donated to help save future lives. A grand total of 35 people donated and 30 units of blood were collected. We are looking forward to holding more blood drives in the future and hope to get more donors and collect even more blood than before!
