Event Name:Jacket Night at Beverly

Description of Event: Recently, our HOSA members participated in Jacket Night at the Beverly Rehabilitation Nursing Center.  The 26 HOSA members in attendance represented our school by wearing our school colors, black and gold. The residents at the nursing home received an unexpected visit from our school’s mascot, “The Yellow Jacket”. In addition, two “future” Yellow Jacket cheerleaders joined the HOSA students. The group began Jacket Night with several cheers and visits from the mascot to the individual resident rooms.  Afterwards, the students helped move the patients to the dining room for Bingo. The club members assisted the residents in playing multiple games of Bingo, while also participating in friendly conversations with them. The nursing home residents enjoyed the large amount of involvement and enthusiasm from the HOSA members and most especially the many prizes provided by the HOSA students.  Our chapter goal is to continue to promote creative and caring volunteer service to our community.

Georgia HOSA is embarking on a new tradition for our new website!  We want to recognize the chapters that are active in their community by putting them on the Georgia HOSA Website; one every two weeks.  There is no requirement of what type of activity it may be, but it has to be involving your local chapter of HOSA. The event must have taken place during this school year, 2007-2008.
