E-Magazine: Be The Match

HOSA’s lifelong National Service Project, Be The Match, is truly committed to working towards a better tomorrow. By educating people, and providing opportunities for HOSA members to sign up for the pre-registry, they use their platform to help those with life threatening blood disorders and diseases like sickle cell. Last year, HOSA raised $477,863 for patients, added 4,307 potential life saving donors to the registry, and added another 1,216 to the pre-registry! We can do this again Georgia HOSA with your heart to serve and lead!

In August, your State Executive Council attended a Be The Match webinar with other States Officers to discuss the updates that Be The Match had brought to the table. The updates included honor cords and  monthly webinars for members across the nation! Be The Match took your feedback into consideration and provided ideas that’ll be helpful to not only HOSA chapters, but HOSA members as well.

One of these updates were honor cords that Be The Match is offering to graduating seniors! Students must have at least 20 cumulative HOSA volunteer hours. These hours have to be related to Be The Match, and should be recorded in the Be The Match volunteer portal. This is an amazing opportunity for HOSA members to be recognized for their contributions to the life-saving mission of Be The Match.

If  you are interested in earning an honor cord from Be The Match, here is how you can sign up for the volunteer portal!

In order to access the volunteer portal, you would want to visit https://www.bethematchhosa.org/  to access their landing page. After you access the landing page, click the plus sign above where it says “NEW! Monthly Webinars”.

Once you click the plus sign, scroll down to the bottom until you see “Be The Match Volunteer Portal”. Clicking this will take you to the portal where you can create a volunteer account.

Once you hit the landing page of the volunteer portal, scroll down until you see the green button that says “sign up”. Click the button and hit “register” in order to create an account.

In order to create your account, you would need to fill out basic information about yourself. Once that is completed, you have officially created an account to start submitting your volunteer hours for Be The Match! Click on the three lines, and hit “Self Report Volunteer Hours” in order to submit your Be The Match hours.

The next update Be The Match informed your SEC of were the monthly webinars that’ll be open to ALL members! On the Be The Match HOSA website, you can now access monthly webinars, hosted by the Be The Match directors and organizers! Not only are you provided the dates for future webinars, but you also are given the opportunity to watch past webinars to gain more information. The webinars are a great opportunity for you to stay informed about Be The Match and how to help.

With the webinars and the new volunteer opportunities, Be The Match has opened the door for HOSA members to learn, lead, serve, and innovate! Georgia HOSA, we dare you to take advantage of this opportunity and share it amongst your HOSA peers! We would love to see you be recognized in helping Be The Match achieve their life-saving mission!
