ACCESS is a new program created by Georgia HOSA to recognize and reward students for their achievements in HOSA. Completing the ACCESS program will give HOSA members the competitive advantage in achieving their postsecondary education and career goals.
- Association Leadership -Become a part of something bigger and understand being a part of an association while being able to articulate the goals and vision of HOSA.
- Community Involvement -Show appreciation to their healthcare community and volunteer in a local and state community service project. Following up with written correspondence will improve students’ written communication skills.
- Career Exploration - Explore their future career options with a one page essay about their dream healthcare job. Additional healthcare experience with journal entries along with a cover letter and resume will strengthen job seeking skills. Participating in mock interviews will give students a competitive edge for that real-world interview.
- Experience - Gain hands-on experience! Additional community service hours are required with journal entries. Student leadership is introduced, as the member will serve on a chapter planning committee and will practice task and project management.
- Student Leadership - Back it all up with leadership experience! Students will serve as the chair or co-chair of a chapter committee and attend a state level conference to see the bigger picture. Students will hone in on their presentation skills as they present to business and industry or individuals on the values of HOSA.
- Success -This final level of the ACCESS program is meant to compile all skills gained into one final document-the ACCESS portfolio. This will leave students who have completed ACCESS with a professional portfolio to show all they have accomplished. Upon completion, students will submit an article to the E-Magazine to talk about their experience and to encourage others to take the next step.
Some students may never have the experience of competing in an event in the competitive events program. This is a program to ensure all members of HOSA get to experience what HOSA has to offer. ACCESS has six levels, challenging students to reach into all aspects of a future career in healthcare.
Applications
The applications for each level of the ACCESS program are in editable PDF’s. You’ll need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to edit and print these PDF’s.
